SPCA Christmas Fayre

Saturday, 7th of December saw the return of the much-anticipated Saint Pancras Community Association annual Christmas Fayre – and what a day it was!

Despite Storm Darragh’s attempts to scupper our plans and dampen our spirits we had a brilliant afternoon of festive fun. Faced with blustering winds and chilly weather, we swiftly relocated Santa’s Grotto from the North Pole to the cozy warm Snug. Luckily our concerns were short-lived, it was a good turnout, as the community braved the weather to get down to our Fayre and celebrate the season.

Our first act of the day was our very own  Golden Years Choir, led by ‘choir master’ Don, they put on an excellent range of Christmas Carols, all sung to the tune of Father Owen’s skills on the accordion. As their final notes echoed through the halls of 67 Plender Street, the Fayre was in full swing.

Our Main Hall had a range of stalls, from the spicy sauces of Beulah’s Kitchen to the handmade jewellery of Jane Yeomans, there was something for everyone on sale. We also had our very own Santa in his Grotto, thanks so much for Don our volunteer extraordinaire for being our Christmas hero once again. Face painting was another highlight of the day – thanks so much to Jay for adding some sparkle to the occasion. We also had some great food on offer, veggie chilli, festive teas and soups for all – perfectly hearty on a cold winter’s day.

The Mayor of Camden Councillor Samata Khatoon also joined us. The Mayoress gave a welcome address to everyone and spoke to the community and stallholders. She even managed a visit to Santa’s grotto.

We ended the day with a firm highlight, which was the raffle prize draw!  We had so many great prizes on offer thanks to some very kind donations from local businesses, special thanks to O Tino, Lumi, Kebana, and Cleaners and Coffee – but the top prize was a Fortnum & Mason hamper which was filled to the brim with Christmas goodies, thank you so much Autotrader for sponsoring the hamper. After our raffle, which was called by our own Santa Claus, we sadly had to pack up and go home. Overall, it was a great afternoon, join us in July for our SPCA Summer Fair. Until then, happy holidays!

Special thanks to Somers Town Big Local for their funding support!
