Golden Years is a fun, free/low cost activity programme for people aged 60+ who live in Camden. Membership is also free. Register to join now.
We run a variety programme of weekly and one-off activities that include: Coffee & Cake, singing, walks, Sunday pub lunch, day trips, walks, Book Club, art and crafts, inter-generational projects, Tai Chi, Yoga, Bingo, annual holiday and much more.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide one-to-one / physical support / personal care so if you have a support need that requires extra help, please bring a family member, friend or carer with you.

On Mon 1st – Thu 4th & Mon 8th – Thu 11th Golden Years activities will not be held in the Cafeteria or Main Hall. Please check with reception which room you are in on the day.
MONDAY 11am MEN’S GROUP – The men’s group have been invited to join Castlehaven’s friendly Men’s Group for the summer. Please meet on Mondays at Castlehaven Community Centre, 23 Castlehaven Road, Camden Town, NW1 8RU.
MONDAY 11.30am-1pm COFFEE & CAKE – Join us for a hot drink, cake and a chat.
MONDAY 1pm-2pm GAMES – Join us for a fun session of board games, cards and dominoes.
MONDAY 2pm-3pm SINGING – Join our friendly singing group every Monday. Everyone is welcome from beginners to professional singers. This month we welcome our new tutor Emanuel.
TUESDAY WALKS/TRIPS – Please meet at SPCA. Some walks will be member-led where you meet at SPCA and decide as a group where to walk, other walks will be led by SPCA volunteer/staff. On 2 Aug, we have been invited to the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace for a tour. Please book as there are limited places. Please note, backpacks are not allowed and large items may not be carried inside the Palace. Suitcases and bags larger than 45cm ×20cm× 30cm cannot be taken into the Palace at all. There are 2x sets of 3 steps to navigate so please let us know asap if you need step-free access so we can arrange this. Please note on trips/walks, members are responsible for their health, safety & personal belongings. Volunteers and staff cannot provide physical assistance. If you have a mobility issue that requires physical support please bring a support worker, carer or friend with you.
WEDNESDAY 11.30am-12.30pm BINGO – Friendly session where you pay 50p per game (6x games) and can win the stake money.
WEDNESDAY (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th) 1pm-2.30pm ART CLASS WITH ARTIST JOE BARROW – Join Joe for fun tutored classes in how to draw. The sessions are suitable for beginners to more experienced artists.
WEDNESDAY (31st) 12.30pm-2.30pm FREE TEA DANCE – Free Tea Dance at Spitalfields Market, look out for the canvas covered Crispin Place off Brushfield Street, E1 6AA. All ages and dancers of all abilities are welcome. No booking needed, just turn up on the day.
THURSDAY (4th, 11th) 11am-12pm TAI CHI/QI GONG – Join us for this new session to increase health and wellbeing and strength. Session is suitable for all and can be done seated. There are limited places so please book.
THURSDAY (4th) 1pm-4.30pm CAMDEN ODEON VISIT – This session is led by the members. Meet outside the cinema at 1pm and the group decides on the film they would like to watch.
THURSDAY (11th) 12.30pm-2.30pm CREATE YOUR OWN STORYBOOK – Do you have a story or memory you will like to share, perhaps with a grandchild? Let us create the first page of a storybook. Come along with an idea and we will turn it into a short story. Session run by artist Antoinette Brooks.
THURSDAY (18th) 9.15am-4.30pm SOUTHEND COACH TRIP £8 – We have organised a small day trip to by coach to Southend. As there are limited places if you would like to go, please come into SPCA Monday to Thursday and pay £8 and secure your place. Details of meeting place will be given when you book. Due to limited places you won’t be able to join on the day.
THURSDAY (25th) 11am-1pm EASTBOURNE HOLIDAY GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER – Come along for a coffee and get to know the other members before the holiday.
FRIDAY 12pm-1pm YOGA – All-ability session that can be done seated or on a yoga mat. There are only 12 places so please book. On Friday 12th the class will be run by another tutor.
FRIDAY (12th) 2pm-3pm QUIZ AT CASTLEHAVEN COMMUNITY CENTRE – We have been invited to Castlehaven’s monthly quiz. There are limited places so if you would like to join, please book in advance. We will be meeting at Castlehaven (23 Castlehaven Road, NW1 8RU) at 2pm for the quiz.
FRIDAY (26th) 12pm-2pm MONTHLY JOINT WETHERSPOONS PUB LUNCH WITH CASTLEHAVEN COMMUNITY CENTRE – We will meeting members and staff from Castlehaven in The Ice Wharf, 28 Jamestown Road, Camden NW1 7BY. We usually sit upstairs on the left as you enter the pub.
SATURDAY (6th) 11am-1pm CROWN CAFÉ – Join Jane & volunteer Saran for a coffee and a chat at the café. (16 Crowndale Rd, NW1 1TT).
SUNDAY (21st) 12pm-2.30pm SUNDAY PUB LUNCH – Join our volunteer Kate for lunch at the Cobden. We have booked a table so there are limited places available. Please book your place in advance.

Volunteer with us
Be one of our valued Golden Years Volunteers who help us run fun weekly/ monthly/one-off activities for people aged 60+ living in Camden. Activities range from Café/pub socials, Singing, Yoga, Art History, day trips, walk and visits to museums, galleries and theatre. You will make people feel welcome, have a chat and help out as needed. We also provide telephone support for older members.
